Having previously been critical of the Frenchman, Massimiliano Allegri has described Paul Pogba as "extraordinary" following Juventus' UEFA Europa League semi-final against Sevilla.

The 30-year-old made only his third appearance in Europe this season on Thursday night, when he was introduced from the bench with 20 minutes left to go.

A late equaliser from Federico Gatti saw the Bianconeri rescue a point at the Allianz Stadium, but it was Pogba's cameo that seemed to please Allegri most in the first leg of his team's last four encounter.

The Frenchman provided the assist for Gatti's 97th-minute effort, his first goal contribution in the nine games he has played in an injury-disrupted campaign.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Allegri said he would have Pogba in his starting XI "every game" if he was at his best physically.

"When games are in the opposition half, he is in an extraordinary player," the Italian tactician stated, according to Goal

"If he was in optimal condition, of course I would have him in the starting XI every game.

"He gave a very important contribution this evening."

Pogba returned to the Italian giants as a free agent at the start of the season following an inconsistent six-year spell at Manchester United.
