'Mahoota' has had a highly accomplished football career spanning over 12 years, where he won every single trophy on offer in Mzansi's top-flight despite its different formats and, we now take a look at the success he enjoyed during his stay at four of the seven clubs he played for.
Following his move from Silver Stars in 2006, Mashego earned his first PSL title at Matsantsa a Pitori, netting 21 goals in 60 appearances.
His impressive form for SuperSport earned him a big-money move to the Buccaneers in 2009 where he helped them win a treble - a PSL title, the MTN8 trophy as well as the Nedbank Cup.
After a disappointing spell with Golden Arrows after leaving Pirates, ‘Mahoota’ made a surprise move to the Dube Birds on a free transfer. At Swallows he guided them to an MTN8 title and also finished as the PSL’s top goalscorer with 13 goals.
In August 2013, the Bushbuckridge-born striker joined Pitso Mosimane’s charges, winning his third Absa Premiership title in his debut season. The following season he was part of the squad that overcame Ajax Cape Town in the final of the Nedbank Cup at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Despite his limited game-time at the club, the left-footed marksman claimed a league and cup double in the 2015/16 campaign. The Telkom Knockout and the PSL title capped off his three-year stay at the Chloorkop side.
At 34, it now remains to be seen if the former Bafana Bafana marksman will call time on his football career or search for another club ahead of the 2016/17 season.
