Final Three Nominees For World Coach Of The Year Revealed

FIFA have officially announced the final three shortlisted candidates for the 2016 World Coach of the Year award.

Following votes from national team coaches, captains, one selected journalist per country and fans online – each "category" counting for 25% of the votes – FIFA cut the original 10-man shortlist down to three.

Last year's winner Luis Enrique did not make the final three, while Wales boss Chris Coleman and France coach Didier Deschamps were also dropped. In addition, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino were also cut.

Zinedine Zidane, Claudio Ranieri and Fernando Santos have been confirmed as the final three candidates for the Best FIFA Men's Coach of the Year award, which was previously known as the FIFA World Coach of the Year award.

This means Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone were also cut from the original shortlist, which, somewhat surprisingly, only featured coaches plying their trade in Europe, overlooking the likes of Pitso Mosimane and company.

FIFA also announced the final three nominees for the FIFA Best Women's Coach of the Year, and they are Jill Ellis (USA), Silvia Neid (Germany), and Pia Sundhage (Sweden), while former Banyana Banyana coach Vera Pauw did not make the cut.

The winners of both awards will be announced on 9 January, during the FIFA awards gala in Zurich.

Who do you think deserves to be named FIFA Best Men's Coach of the Year? Have your say in the comments section below.

Zidane took over from Benites when champions league had started, so if Zidane wins maybe he must share with Benites. Pitso won league and champions league, yet no enough to be nominated. Claudio won the league only, many coaches around the world won leagues, Pitso won league and champions league yet not enough to be nominated. Fernando won Euro 2016 many coaches around the world won tournaments in their respective continents so what makes Fernando special. I would choose Claudio as a winner since he did what was deemed unlikely, as for other nominees not sure. I suppose Euro champions league is much more important than other champ leagues around the world and so is the Euro 2016

@Zax5-Bucs What/who's moagoe now??? But so much anger over a cyber argument, control yourself man.I gave plenty of names yet you chose to pick Pitso whom from your argument is a cut from the same cloth as Santos yet Santos is better in your view despite the fact that Dunus won a treble yet you're only talk about Caf?! But I get it your "Africa inferiority to the Western" mentality will keep you in bondage despite being socially free.I mentioned the Chilean Coach whom achieved the same as Santos but you chose to ignore that 'cause you roll like that I guess.

@west13 the quality of the opposition is also taken into consideration. That's why Pitso is nowhere to b seen. I wonder hiw u find this simple logic difficult to comprehend

Wich team did they beat to reach groupstages? I know dUnU fans are hooligans but i didn't know that they can be idiots also like zebra, unless otherwise.

What did Santos do to even be mentioned there:for finishing 3rd in the group stages? Looooool maybe CR7 should take his spot since he made them finish 3rd,got them to the finals and wait for it literally coaching Portugal to their maiden international silverware, while the Chilean coach drilled his team into being Copa America champs once again! Zidane also, the guy only won a 13 game competition and boom he's a coach of the year worth nominee how "surprising!". Pitso,Pep,Enrique,Allegri all won far greater than those two but "unsurprisingly" only the Western are worthy to win it!
