Dean Furman Is Excited For SuperSport United's CAF CC Game
SuperSport United will get their CAF Confederation Cup group stage mission underway this evening and Dean Furman is confident that they can succeed.
Matsatsantsa find themselves pitted against TP Mazembe, Horoya AC and CF Mounana as they battle it out for a spot in the knockout stages of the competition and will start their fight with a home clash against Horoya this weekend.
Furman, who will be playing the CAF inter-club competition group stages for the first time, says that he is excited and hopes that SuperSport can do the country proud.
He told the Siya crew, “We are looking forward to the start of the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup... It is a great honour to represent SuperSport on the continent and we want to do both our club and nation proud.
“We have shown in the qualifying stages that we have the squad, experience and quality to compete in this tournament, and we are fully focused on making it out of the group and into the knockout stages.”
Meanwhile, with a Nedbank Cup semi-final on the horizon, the 28-year-old also wants to make sure that the club tries to pick up some silverware after dropping out of the Absa Premiership title race.
“We are still keen to win our final two league games and finish as high as possible. However, we are highly motivated to end the season with silverware and we will be giving everything to try and get past Chippa in the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup and hopefully get through the CAF group stages before we close our season.”
SuperSport host Horoya at 19h00 tonight as they look to get off to a winning start.
