Reports: Lionel Messi Tells FC Barcelona Why They Should Not Sign Marco Reus
Reports have linked FC Barcelona with Marco Reus. However, Lionel Messi has apparently told the club not to sign the German, and here's why!
The 27-year-old seems to be getting back to his best following several injury spells over the past two seasons.
He has netted five goals and assisted a further strike in his past five starts for Borussia Dortmund, and many feel that this year might be the right moment to lure the 27-year-old, who is approaching the prime years of his career, away from Germany.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Reus is a target for Barcelona, with the Catalan giants keen to strengthen their squad in the coming window.
However, it was also suggested that Messi is not in favour of his club signing the Germany international due to his lengthy injury record.
Reus missed his country's 2014 FIFA World Cup-winning campaign due to injury, as well as 58 BVB games – according to Transfermarkt – over the past two-and-half seasons.
Messi reportedly feels that Reus' injury history means he would spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch, and believes that Barca cannot risk signing such an injury-prone player.
Despite his injury record, Reus has scored 87 goals and set up another 61 strikes in 186 appearances since joining Dortmund.
