Arsenal Legend Tracks SA Star, Future Uncertain

Lebogang Phiri's Future Has Still Not Been Decided

By Joe Crann - May 16, 2017 09:42 AM @YesWeCrann
Lebogang Phiri’s current focus is on finishing the season strongly with Brondby and hoping for a DBU Pokalen winners medal, but he has decisions to make.

The 22-year-old has become a firm fan favourite in Brondby since his debut a few years ago and has been solidified in the club’s history after scoring the goal that kept them in the top-flight back in 2013.

However, it appears that the love affair between Brondby’s fans and the South African will be coming to an end this year, with Phiri expected to move on at the end of the campaign once his current contract comes to an end.

Having been denied the perfect send off in the DBU Pokalen final, as he was sent off in the semifinal, Phiri will be hoping to make sure he at least finishes the league games well but will be supporting his teammates from the sidelines against FC Copenhagen.

It remains to be seen exactly where the midfielder will be playing his football next season, however, it is known that Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira, is very keen on trying to bring him on board at New York City FC.

As reported in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, NYCFC are still tracking the player’s situation after they had an offer rejected back in January, although nothing has been agreed at this stage.

The Siya crew will keep an eye on Phiri’s situation going forward to see where he ends up ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Dutch Newspapers De Telegraaf named Kamohelo Mokotjo in the Telesport Elftal of the season (Team of the season). Mokotjo is the only player who is not playing for Ajax or Dutch champions Feyenoord in the Team of the season.

He rather stay where he is than going to MLS. MLS is a retirement league so not so many teams go and scouts in that league.

It would be great if Phiri goes to NY City Fc , is clear the current team dont want him anymore because theres no sign of contract extension. Is time to grow elsewhere Phiri
