Singh On His Olympics Omission
Luther Singh Happy For Olympics Players
After being omitted from Owen Da Gama’s under 23 squad that went to the Olympics last August, Luther Singh has discussed how he felt after missing out on the opportunity to play in Rio.
The 19-year-old has been touted as a star for the future for Bafana Bafana, but, despite establishing himself as a key member of his former team, GAIS in Sweden, he was not selected for the squad that travelled to Rio De Janeiro. However, Singh believes that all the players in Da Gama’s team deserved their places.
“The team that Owen Da Gama selected for the Olympics was a really good team with good quality players and they were there based on performance,” he said.
When asked about the way he reacted to his omission, he said that he was happy for his compatriots and that he didn’t question Da Gama’s decision.
“He selected the best team at that moment, so I was happy for them,” he added. “I couldn’t question myself or question him.”
Singh, now playing for Portuguese club, Braga, has scored one goal in four league games for their reserve team this season.
