Chippa Star Ruled Out After Gordinho Tackle
Buyani Sali Will Not Play For Chippa United Again This Season
Chippa United have been dealt a blow ahead of their final Absa Premiership games, with Buyani Sali being ruled out after a clash with Lorenzo Gordinho.
The 27-year-old had to be taken out of the game against Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend after a crunching collision with Gordinho in the first half, with his side eventually going on to be beaten by a late George Lebese goal.
It was thought from the start that the midfield man would face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, something that has now been confirmed by the club after he fractured a bone in the tackle.
Team physio, Mark Anderson, explained to the club’s official website that the player will be in a cast for nearly two months as he recovers.
Anderson said, “Sali sustained an undisplaced tibial fracture during Saturday’s match. There seemed to be contact on the inside of his right tibia, resulting in the fracture. He will be in a cast for 6 weeks, and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.”
With six games to go, Chippa find themselves loitering dangerously close to the relegation zone, just three points ahead of Baroka and Highlands Park and Dan Malesela will be hoping to some big performances from his players as the season comes to an end.
