Battle At The Summit – Tomorrow To Decide League Title?

The League Title Race Could Have A Definite Favourite After Tomorrow

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 18, 2017 05:47 PM
There are two key battles at the top of the Absa Premiership log tomorrow night, with several potential Absa Premiership title winners going head-to-head against each other.

Four of the league’s current top five will do battle in Tshwane and Cape Town, as SuperSport United face Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits travel to Cape Town City, with the results of the encounters helping to determine the destination of the league title.

SuperSport, who were beaten 5-0 by Masandawana in their last league game, need to win their match in order to cling on to their already slim chances of winning the league and defeat would see them fall seven points adrift of Pitso Mosimane’s side in fourth.

Sundowns, meanwhile, are looking to close the gap on Wits and City, now that their games in hand (on the Clever Boys) have been depleted and a win could potentially take them as high as third place if other results go their way.

Gavin Hunt’s team can cement their place as title favourites if they pick up three points against Eric Tinkler’s table-toppers at Cape Town Stadium, with a win taking them up to 47 points – one point ahead of City, with a game in hand.

Lastly, the Citizens can take a big stride towards completing a Leicester City-esque fairytale if they’re able to get one over on Hunt’s men and a win would take them three points clear of Kaizer Chiefs and four ahead of Wits.

Chiefs, meanwhile, will be hoping for a SuperSport win and a draw between City and Wits.

If SuperSport and Sundowns draw and there is a winner between the other two sides then it would certainly put the victor in the driving seat ahead of the last few games, however, if the game in the Western Cape ends with the spoils shared, then Downs could really open up the league race once again.

Who do you think will win the Absa Premiership?

Eish guys this will be a tough for everyone in the top 5 to win this League Title. Based on the matches that left from Now i can put my money on Sundowns. Yes they can defend or win it, why? Look the next 2 games for all the team running for Psl title and compare them. Then look down the last 2 games of the season for all top 5 teams and also compare. Downs have the upper hand with those games in hand lets not forget yes its not points but they have the ability to grind the results.

For Cape Town City to contend for this League they need to beat Wits to night because if they don't do that the will be just like Chiefs be in the Top 5 just to make some news.KBY Masandawana.

It's between Wits, Downs and Cape town city. Supersport and Chiefs are out, and they must just focus on Nedbank cup. As for Chiefs, I don't know where this hype is from... whether is the media or their camp 'cause even a blind person can see that Chiefs have no chance of winning this league, but anyway this false hope will fade away after their next two league games and by that time it will be when their senses get back... that it was just another empty season for them.

Games are still galore to determine who wins the league, Is just Zebras are too ambitious, they imagine themselves being the winner, their wish list is causing stir at their camp

@tshwedi81, the league race is between Downs, Wits and Cape Town City. These are teams that possess quality worth the championship.

@Khosination 4, Wits v Cape Town City encounter is not a championship decider. The league race will be stretched to the very last day.

@The-Rose-of-Pretoria#kby, Wits tend to crack under pressure. They will be tested tomorrow when they meet Cape Town City.
